The Texas Cannabis Policy Center, a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization, is hosting a policy conference focused on our state’s evolving cannabis laws and advocacy. The event aims to bring together policy experts, industry leaders, lawmakers, regulators, and advocates. TCPC is looking to recruit two dedicated and passionate interns to assist with the planning, promotion, and execution of the 2026 Texas Cannabis Policy Conference.

Both positions are part-time, volunteer internships offering a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with event planning, communications, and outreach for a high-profile statewide policy conference — and to work closely with an organization committed to advancing cannabis policy in Texas.

1. Event Graphics Intern

Role Summary: The Event Graphics Intern will be responsible for creating and managing conference speaker and sponsor promotional materials using pre-designed Canva templates. This role is perfect for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and has an eye for design. Time commitment: 5hrs./week.

Responsibilities:

  • Populate Canva templates with provided speaker and sponsor information (name, title, organization, headshot, etc.).
  • Export and organize graphics in Google Drive with correct file naming conventions.
  • Update conference spreadsheets with completed speaker and sponsor materials.
  • Communicate with the website coordinator and social media manager to ensure graphics are uploaded and posted in a timely manner.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with Canva or similar design tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Basic familiarity with Google Drive, Sheets, and Docs.
  • Clear and professional written communication skills.

2. Campus and Community Outreach Intern

Role Summary: The Campus and Community Outreach Intern will focus on encouraging student engagement and participation by promoting the Texas Cannabis Policy Conference across the UT Austin campus and the surrounding community. This role is great for a proactive communicator who enjoys networking and organizing outreach campaigns. Time commitment: 5hrs./week.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and coordinate with relevant campus departments and student groups to promote the conference.
  • Distribute promotional materials across campus and seek opportunities for event exposure (bulletin boards, digital signage, newsletters, etc.).
  • Maintain consistent communication with registered students to encourage their attendance at the event.
  • Assist with day-of-event duties to ensure a successful experience for student attendees.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to initiate and maintain relationships with campus organizations and departments.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple outreach tasks simultaneously.
  • Comfortable with email communications and basic spreadsheet management.
  • Creative thinking to improve student participation and engagement.
