TCPC graphic: Governor Abbott: Veto SB 3! Call (512) 463-2000

Both the Texas House and Senate have approved Senate Bill 3, sending the hemp prohibition bill to Governor Abbott for his approval…or VETO. He has 20 days after the legislative session ends to sign or veto the bill. If he takes no action, the bill automatically becomes law.

If allowed to become law, SB 3 would re-criminalize hundreds of thousands of Texans who currently enjoy federally legal hemp products responsibly. We would have preferred a system of regulation, but we can not stand by while Texas plunges into a painfully familiar era of prohibition. This bill will cause far more harm than good!

Please join us in calling on Governor Greg Abbott to VETO SB 3!

  1. Call Gov. Abbott’s office: (512) 463-2000 (Be polite.)
  2. Email Governor Abbott. Ask him to VETO SB 3!
  3. Sign this petition that already has nearly 90,000 signatures!

Handwritten Letters to Governor Abbott

Texas Hemp Business Council is collecting and delivering handwritten letters to Governor Abbott, asking him to VETO SB 3!

The Goal: Handwritten letters to the Governor’s office before he signs the bill. We do not know when he will sign, so we need to get these done in the next 5 days. Please do not underestimate the power a handwritten letter can have.

Here are two key documents:

  1. Letter Template – for customers to handwrite their message to Governor Abbott.
  2. Messaging Guidelines – to help them craft respectful, impactful letters.

Here’s what you can do:

  • Print copies of the attached Letter Template and have your colleagues, family, friends, and clients write a handwritten letter to the Governor.
  • Use the messaging guidelines and complete with full name and address (required – otherwise they’ll be discarded).
  • Coordinate with TCBC to get the completed letters returned. They have people picking up letters in the major cities and driving them down to Austin.
  • You may also overnight the letters to THBC - 9501-B Manchaca Rd, Austin TX, 78748

“We need to move fast, and your participation could make a real impact…Thank you for standing with us — we’re in this together.”
